The First Ten Minutes Students will enter quickly and quietly and head straight to their seats Once students have entered the classroom, they will not be permitted to leave again until after the bell rings One student from each table will collect that group’s Interactive Notebooks Backpacks, lunchboxes, and other items should be stored underneath desks Students should have ONLY the following items on their desks: Notebook Writing utensil Water bottle Bronco Bucks card Students are expected to be in their seats, working on the warmup, when the bell rings Homework should be placed in a pile in the center of the table

Assignments Interactive Notebooks: Unless otherwise specified, all classwork will be completed in your Interactive Notebook Interactive Notebooks will stay in the classroom, in your designated class period crate, AT ALL TIMES All notebook assignments will be subject to weekly spot checks Notebook checks will count as a homework grade (for gradebook and detention purposes) Homework: Will be assigned weekly. Assessments: Beginning of year baseline (August) Chapter Quizzes Unit Tests Midterm Exam (December) EOC Practice Examinations End of Course Exam (April) End of year baseline (May)

Grading Weights 90% - Tests/Quizzes 10% - Classwork/Homework Scale 90% - 100% A 80% - 89% B 70% - 79% C 0% - 69% NEEDS IMPROVEMENT *Three (3) missing homework assignments will result in a detention. PLEASE NOTE: In this class, classwork counts as homework. As such, missing classwork will count as missing homework.

Leaving the Classroom Water: Students will not be permitted to leave the classroom for water, except in the case of an emergency. Students are encouraged to bring a reusable water bottle, which they will be able to fill in between classes. Restroom: Students will be permitted to use the restroom a total of 30 times during a 9-week period. This allowance is shared among ALL of the students’ classes. Students will receive a new punch card each 9 weeks, and will be rewarded for unclaimed trips. Students will not be permitted to go to the restroom during the first 10 minutes of class Students will only be permitted to leave the classroom during independent or group work sessions Students should not interrupt during a lecture or class discussion to ask to leave the classroom

If you are late/absent… You are responsible for collecting any missed assignments and/or making up missed tests/quizzes Please note: because I have so many students across different grade levels, I am unable to give individual reminders about missing work MISSING HANDOUTS/HOMEWORK – a “Z” for 0% will be placed in the gradebook until you complete and return missed handouts/homework If you are absent, your name and the assignment due date will be printed on the handout/homework and placed in your class period mailbox Continued on next slide…

If you are late/absent… MISSED QUIZZES/TESTS – a “Z” for 0% will be placed in the gradebook until you schedule an appointment to makeup the assessment Your name, the name of the missed assessment, and the due date will be listed on the “Makeup Assessments” log See me during the last 10 minutes of class to schedule a makeup appointment, which can be made before school, during class (in some cases), or during lunch (in special cases) INTERACTIVE NOTEBOOK – When you are absent, your tablemates will retrieve your notebook from the crate and place it on your desk. I WILL INSERT A POST-IT NOTE TO THE APPROPRIATE PAGE THAT LISTS THE TITLE OF THE MISSING ASSIGNMENT AND THE DUE DATE. It is your responsibility to get missing Interactive Notebook assignments from either your tablemates, or from the Teacher’s Interactive Notebook

Seat Numbers Each student will have a unique seat number If you change seats, you change numbers PLEASE NOTE: You are expected to be in your assigned seat at all times, unless you have been given permission to sit elsewhere for the day (for example, the carpet or bean bag) Numbers will be used for assigning laptops, assigning Plickers cards, and choosing students to ask questions/complete tasks

The Last Ten Minutes One person from each table will return all notebooks to the appropriate class period crate All community materials will be collected and returned to the appropriate table bin Desks will be wiped down (if needed) and arranged neatly All trash will be picked up from the floor/surrounding area Students may make appointments for makeup assessments and/or teacher-student conferences Students may check out books from the classroom library Students will ask questions about homework and/or upcoming assignments
