Electronics system overview from TKlayout Stella Orfanelli 12.10.2016, CMS Tracker Week https://indico.cern.ch/event/572325/

Introduction Working on getting summaries and info out of tkLayout for services Under development (not debugged, not updated) Used as reference among detector, electronics and mechanics designers , to assist communication and decision-making Not to compare ‘1-1’ now but to trigger conversation for comparison (offline). Code can be used for different pixel geometry configurations w/o modification Contents of the talk: First part : introducing the new summary tab added and pointing out what needs to be updated / discussed Second part : some useful plots http://sorfanel.web.cern.ch/sorfanel/layouts/OT_Tilted_362_200_Pixel_4021/Electronics.html

Introduction to the tklayout webpage Geometry (pixel) tab: Already existing Containing info for layers, disk and modules but not in a convenient way for services summaries

Introduction to the tklayout webpage Material (pixel) tab: Already existing Containing info for radiation length and inetraction length maps and services ID map.

Services ID map OptoConversion FPIX2_#1-#4 OptoConversion L1, L2, L3, L4 OptoConversion FPIX1_#1-#7 Barrel Layer 4 Barrel Layer 3 Barrel Layer 2 Barrel Layer 1 FPIX1_#1-#7 FPIX2_#1-#4

New entry: tab for pixel electronics “electronics”: One csv file with Services info. Three identical tables (one after the other): Barrel, FPIX1, FPIX2

New tab for pixel electronics info: “electronics”

Services{…}.csv file description: Emphasis on TWP, HV, SP, Cooling Barrel layer or type of FPIX disk for HV, SP, Cooling, Barrel layer or ring for TWP HV, SP, Cooling or TWP (for fibers, support: blank) ElementName Length [mm Mass [g] Number from Service ID Map Radiation length Mass per length [g/mm] Coordinates Interaction length

Barrel Table Part #1: geometry description Reshuffling information that was already in the geometry tab 12 rods of 9 modules of 1x2 (L1,L2) or 2x2(L3,L4) 25x100 used along all layers

Barrel Table Part #2: Example of powering description [*] are variables that will be modified. Not to be trusted now. SP cable Xsection had been optimized by for old chip power numbers around 10% average digital power variation standard trigger and hits vs only clock Not including power for readout RD53A last week: Sara Marconi https://indico.cern.ch/event/567361/

Barrel Table Part #2: Powering description [X] SP RULES BROKEN BY GEOMETRY Incompatible with chip capabilities Reminder of “SP rules” as summarised by Charles [July’s tracker week, https://indico.cern.ch/event/548644/] Maximum length of SP chain: 8clusters BPIX rods/FPIX Dees/FPIX rings/FPIX rings side independent from each other SP chains can be made of “clusters” that can be modules 1x4 or 2x2 with chips on module parallel powered or Two Modules of 1x2 each, parallel powered. The reason why is that for the moment there is no protection foreseen and only the failure scenario of 1 out 4 chips (meaning the rest will need to carry 32%Ichain extra current) has been studied. There is no guarantee that a chip can carry 100% extra current.

E-links info & Summary of Services weights Info for GBT/#links/speed etc Summary of services weights [gr] per layer (per Z-end) Other information that could be useful?

FPIX example summary table [X] Differences on services info: SP, Cooling and HV are distributed homogeneously on disks. No ring information. TWP per ring info

Part #2 Services plots for OT_Tilted_362_200_Pixel4021 Currently these plots are not generated automatically Working on making another tab with this kind of plots

Twisted Pairs Length distribution Length of TWP [mm] per Z end Although L4 at higher radius, the length till the optoconversion dominates. Min ~400cm and max ~550cm BPIX TWPs. Very short distances for FPIX TWPs.

Total Services radiation length TWPs dominate 0<η<1, η>3 Cooling has improved since moving to Titanium

TWP radiation length

Barrel Layer 1 Services

Next steps: Call for feedback Next steps: Converge on number for power+ chains Update ROC Power numbers Fill in FPIX info for services Add Fiber info in the summary table Currently only on the csv summary Radiation length plots Currently manually Debug and release this version of the code
