Knowledge "In defining information and knowledge for development, three variables have to be explicitly separated, viz: information (quantitative and qualitative data), information application (knowledge) and knowledge application (action)”. Augustine, F. Kamlongera, Malawi "Knowledge is of two kinds: we know a subject ourselves, or we know where we can find information upon it” . Samuel Johnson, compiler of the first comprehensive English dictionary . .

Focus & results > Expert Database Focused on establishing an infrastructure to facilitate networking of ifu participants after ifu. The project results are a conceptual design specification for an ifu Expert Database within vifu. Moreover a prototype was developed, enabling retrieval of a specific person by first or last name and country. With our documentation vifu staff will continue implementation after ifu.

Interface Design Group Focus & results > Interface Design Group Focused on organizing knowledge discovered within ifu context to be presented as comprehensible in easy-to-grasp and friendly-to-user virtual environment.

Focus & results > Information Database Focused on the flow and organization of information: To deal with it within ifu we offer a classification scheme and new keywords specify the DC. Metadata for this electronic sources design a database for the information.

Focus & results > Sitemap subgroup Focused on the organization of current and future ifu website (vifu): The sitemap should be a navigation help for the ifu participants (target group), who want to access details of the project areas in a fast and efficient way, while graphical overhead should be avoided colors are to be used in order to simplify the search.
