The Behavioral of Effective Leader (cont.) Job-Centered Leadership Focuses on completing the task and uses close supervision so that subordinates perform their tasks using specified procedures. This leader relies on coercion, reward, and legitimate power to influence the behavior and performance of followers

Employee-Centered Leadership Focuses on the people doing the work and believes in delegating decision making and aiding followers in satisfying their needs by creating a supportive work environment. Employee-centered leaders concerned themselves with followers’ personal advancement, growth, and achievement

The Behavioral of Effective Leader (cont.) Consideration Leadership The extent to which a leader is likely to have job relationships characterized by mutual trust, respect for subordinates’ ideas, and regard for their feelings

Becoming More Employee-Centered Try to use rewards (e.g., special assignments, bonuses) rather than punishments for reinforcing and modifying subordinates’ behaviors Be an open and frequent communicator Listen carefully Mentor employees Admit mistakes and correct them with a positive attitude
