Master’s Degree at the Helsinki Campus All students accepted in 2015 or after have the automatic study right to continue studies for the M.Sc. Orientation to University Studies course 1 cr, during the first fall semester Part 1: Orientation to studies and planning the studies for the first academic year 1.1 participation to orientation 1.2 personal study plan, part 1 (HOPS) Part 2: Computer applications Begins on Friday of the o-week; see a separate schedule for the sessions Word, Excel, Power Point – you need to pass the tests
Study Plan, Part 1 –form -> Course registrations for 2017-2018 Proposal for your personal study plan (HOPS) for modules 1-12 during 2017-2018 The first year required courses are already listed on your study plan proposal. Changes are possible, if needed. HOPS is confirmed during a meeting with Mari Syväoja meetings are done during Aug 31 – Sept 21, 2017 reservation list is outside of Mari´s office (2D, 2nd floor) by signing the form you register for the courses for 2017-2018 Each student will get a copy of the final approved study plan to his/her pidgeonhole. The courses will also be listed online on MyCourses.
Changes to course registrations You will be registered to the courses according to your personal study plan signed by you and Mari Syväoja. In case of changes, you must always contact Mari Syväoja to agree on changes. The changes need to be done at least 3 weeks before the start of the course (for example due to the textbook ordering system). After signing the revised study plan, the student will always get a copy to his/her pidgeonhole. The changes can also be seen on MyCourses. If there would be changes to the course schedule, the students will be informed by the staff by email to agree on new arrangements for the study plan.
Credit transfer Credits from previous studies must be transferred by Sept 29, 2017 (unless otherwise agreed with Mari) max 18 cr in a language other than English with required courses, the contents + credits need to match with our course (compare the course descriptions before applying) Please provide to Mari Syväoja Application Form for Transfer of Credits –form (on Into) an official transcript with information on the grading scale used course description of the course in question
Exemption from some language studies and Maturity Test Swedish Business Communication (3 cr) is required of those who have finished their upper secondary education in Finland in Finnish or Swedish, or who have sufficient knowledge of Swedish. The others can apply for the exemption and earn the missing 3 cr by taking other language and communication courses. If your language of education in school was Swedish, you need complete a special advanced Swedish course. Maturity Test is written during the Bachelor’s Thesis process to demonstrate proficiency in Finnish or Swedish (if a Finnish citizen). The others can apply for the exemption to write the test in English.
