StepIn Supported Living Networks Inclusion Ireland March 2012

What is StepIn? Based on the Keyring Community Living Networks, UK Network of 10 people living within walking distance of each other – 9 people with disability and a community living volunteer Volunteer supports the network members individually The members support each other Supported Living Organiser oversees the establishment of the network, helps people access housing, benefits etc People get additional support from other agencies/family is necessary

Defining Characteristics of StepIn High expectations of people – people can and will be able to contribute to the network, their community, their neighbours Communities can and will include and appreciate people with intellectual disabilities People do better when not surrounded by paid staff
