Texture Mugs Vocabulary Get out your grade sheet & homework (2 textures).

1. texture The surface quality of an object Ex. – jagged, rough, bumpy, smooth, etc.

2. Soft slab construction Using slabs that are still soft (plastic) to create a form

3. (Leather) hard slab construction Using slabs that are leather hard to create a form

4. stain A stable colorant used to decorate pottery. Stain does not contain the glass-forming silica that glaze does.

5. Geometric design A design containing non-representational shapes such as circles, squares, ellipses, triangles, etc.

6. organic design A design containing forms usually found in nature
