Presentation transcript:

Roy Lichtenstein “The Man.”

Lichtenstein Roy Lichtenstein was one of the most famous Pop Artists of his time. Pop Art uses everyday, commercial objects as art, such as comic books, soup can labels, and gum wrappers.

Lichtenstein… Roy Lichtenstein used a grid to transfer pictures from the comic books, ads, etc. The pictures were not exact copies, but were cropped images from the original (parts were left out).

His works… At Lichtenstein’s first show in 1961, his works were put down by art critics. By 1988, his painting “Torpedo… los!” was sold for 5.5 million, a record at the time.

Sculpture? Lichtenstein also made several sculptures, which mimicked the style he used in his paintings.

His death. Roy Lichtenstein died of Pneumonia in 1997 at New York University Medical Center. He was 74 years old. His work lives on in many museums around the world. http://msstucker.weebly.com/roy-lichtenstein.html
