Who We are: Only pediatric hospital in Arkansas Only Burn Intensive Care unit in Arkansas Pediatric Level 1 Trauma Center
ACH ER Stats: 38 Beds 4 General Trauma Rooms 1 Ortho Trauma Room 2 Psych Rooms 1 OB/GYN Room Average census: 150—170 patients/day in summer and 230—250 patients/day in winter
Pharmacy services in the ED: Pharmacy responds to ALL Level 1 traumas, intubations, codes or other critical patients when called (24/7). 1 full time dedicated pharmacist (40 hours/week). Medication Reconciliation Discharge Prescriptions Retail pharmacy calls Antibiotic and other medication recommendations Readily available if needed for codes/traumas or other critical patients Take 8-9 APPE students on month-long rotations per year. Students help with Medication Reconciliations 1 Hour Live CE for pharmacy staff Assist pharmacist in codes/traumas/intubations
Goals for Future pharmacy services in the EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT: Increase dedicated pharmacists to cover 7 days/week. Review of all discharge Rxs from the ED Provide continuing education for hospital pharmacists across Arkansas on pediatric emergency medications
