Why God Created the Church Family Acts 2:14-47 3000 added to God’s church The church is the people who belong to God. It is not a place or an event to go to. The term church family refers to individual congregations like Rose Hill. Just like we need to be in the church to BE saved, we need to be in a good church family to STAY saved.

Why God Created the Church Family

Why God Created the Church Family God knows we need each other to get through this life as together we journey to our heavenly home.

Why God Created the Church Family #1. He knew we would need help. Mark 2:17 “It’s not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Romans 5:6 “While we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.”

Why God Created the Church Family #1. He knew we would need help. Mark 2:17 “It’s not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Romans 5:6 “When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.”

Why God Created the Church Family #1. He knew we would need help. Mark 2:17 “It’s not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners.” Romans 5:6 “When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners.” Others in the church family can help us to overcome the sinful things of this world.

Why God Created the Church Family #1. He knew we would need help. Acts 2:38 “Repent, and let each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” We need all the help we can get, and that extra help is the church family! Acts 2:42 “They were continually devoting themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer.”

Why God Created the Church Family #2. He knew we would need love. 2 Thessalonians 1:3 “We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brethren, as is only fitting, because your faith is greatly enlarged, and the love of each one of you toward one another grows ever greater.” What Paul said about that church could also be said of this church family at Rose Hill.

Why God Created the Church Family #2. He knew we would need love. Philippians 2:1-4 “If therefore there is any encourage- ment in Christ, if there is any consolation of love, if there is any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and compassion, then make my joy complete by being of the same mind, maintaining the same love, united in spirit, intent on one purpose. Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.”

Why God Created the Church Family #3. He knew we would need encouragement. Ephesians 4:12 We need each other “for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, and for the edifying of the body of Christ.” We in the church family need to be built up and encouraged. Acts 4:36 “And Joseph, a Levite of Cyprian birth, who was also called Barnabas by the apostles (which translated means, Son of Encouragement).”

Why God Created the Church Family #3. He knew we would need encouragement. “We can't all be heroes because someone has to sit on the curb and clap as they go by.” – Will Rogers

Why God Created the Church Family #4. He knew we would need comfort. 1 Corinthians 12:25-26 “There should be no division in the body, but the members should have the same care for one another. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.” Romans 12:15 “We rejoice with those who rejoice, and we weep with those who weep.”
