Let’s take a trip to our nation’s capital!

Instructions Over the next 3 days we will be exploring our nation’s capital by means of a virtual field trip. In order to make use of the double pane feature, you should use windows 7 or better for this project. (See me if you don’t understand after I show you.) In one pane you will have this powerpoint. In the other pane you will have your digital worksheet. The worksheet will have a few questions you will need to answer at each stop (slide) on our field trip. You will click on the hyperlink of each URL to navigate to some websites to obtain answers to those questions that correspond with the slide you are on. Note: DO NOT get sidetracked. If I find you searching any websites other than those that are hyperlinked in this project, you will receive a zero for the project. So let’s get started!

Introduction Before we actually begin answering questions on our worksheet, let’s actually discuss where our nation’s capital is. Our nation’s capital is right between Maryland and Virginia by the Potomac river and is called the Washington District of Columbia (Washington D.C. or D.C. for short). It was formed on July 16, 1790. It is also not technically a part of any state. It is its own entity.

Transition and Instructional Reminder Now that we have learned a little bit about Washington D.C., and seen its geographical location, let’s look at some significant places in D.C. Note: This is where you want to start answering questions on your worksheet.

The Washington Monument Answers to the Questions

Conclusion Our nation’s capital has so many amazing things to see, and we have only just looked at 5 of the many historical building and memorials that Washington D.C. has to offer. Hopefully, this Virtual Field Trip was educational. Remember to study your study guide and digital worksheet for our test coming up on American cities.
