College Readiness: The average SAT score in HISD is 844/1600 (National average ~980) African American—781 Latino—812 Economically Disadvantaged—802 Foreign born—808 52% of HISD graduates attend college in Texas Of those, 36% have to take remediation classes
Who: Targeted Student Interventions We knew, irrespective of their academic profile, certain HISD students were less likely to attend college Underrepresented minorities Economically disadvantaged Foreign-born Special education To combat these trends, we specifically target students on each campus for specific outreach and individual advising. About 30% of the senior class was specifically targeted in 2015-2016 Refer to equity here and why these students are our primary focus.
