Communications updates for branch officials training event 17/01/17

Things to tell you about Using Dotmailer Website developments Member communications preferences Brief update on newsletter

What is Dotmailer? Dotmailer is a system for mass emails It allows us to send branded communications to a managed list of subscribers It allows us to track email performance

When might you need to use Dotmailer? When you have a third party/external notice you may wish to circulate. If you would like to promote an external event. If you would like to promote an event to prospective members or to a wider audience. If you have a communication that would be considered outside of NAHT’s core business.

How to request an email is sent via Dotmailer Contact Matthew: matthew.waterfall@naht.org.uk or Jason: jason.ferraby@naht.org.uk, who are now trained on the system. My team will support them with any issues. They will liaise with you to ensure the details are correct.

Member comms preferences Was part of the planned changes to membership as communicated alongside payment date change project. Helps us stay data compliant. Went live at the start of the new term.

Next steps Make language more explicit to ensure clarity of understanding about what people can unsubscribe from. Will align preferences centre with ‘update your details’ page once completed early in the new year (in line with data cleanse campaign)

E newsletter update Learning through testing to achieve higher engagement. Testing on timing/subject line/personalisation/segmentation/content type

In a nutshell… The website has been in a state of flux for some time now. Longer term plans to launch a new site are currently on hiatus. It may be some time before a new site materialises.

Current issues we’re looking to address based on feedback Navigation experience Search efficacy General aesthetic

What we’re doing ‘Spring clean’ of the website to delete old content. This will improve search results. Reviewing the home page offer with a view to reducing the content by at around 60% to create a more intuitive browsing experience. Less choice. Working with our website provider to see if we can reskin the site to create more white space, giving the site a more modern feel.
