Algebra 1 Mr. Hochberg Day 11 Need to edit automaticity to make more editable.

Review (Do Now) Total Time: 10 minutes Do 3 problems (one problem from each column), raise your hand, repeat. 1) GRAPH: 2) Draw a number line. Start at -2 Go left 4. Where do you end up? Which problem is represented above? 3) Sketch an example of a piece-wise linear function. 4) GRAPH: 5) What is: (3)(4) = ? (-3)(4) = ? (3)(-4) = ? (-3)(-4) = ? 6) A ball rolls down a cliff. Draw a DISTANCE vs TIME graph. 7) GRAPH: 8) What is: 2A + 3A = ? 8B + 12B = ? 14C – 13C = ? 9) A woman takes an elevator down, gets off on the 5th floor and then walks straight. Draw an ELEVATION vs TIME graph. X Y 3 1 5 2 X Y 2 5 3 6 4 8 X Y -3 -4 -2 -1

Objective Check Total Time: 1 minute OBJECTIVE: SWBAT apply the distributive property by completing 8/10 correctly on the Kahoot questions. Whole Class Did we meet today’s objective?

Homework Review Total Time: 2 minutes Take today’s homework Ask clarifying questions

Shout Outs Total Time: 3 minutes Take one post it from your bin and write A positive shout out to another student OR A way you used growth mindset (GM) today Example 1: “Shout out to Brandon for helping me understand how to graph.” Example 2: “I used GM today by trying to solve without a calculator even though I always use a calculator.”

Exit Ticket Total Time: 5 minutes

Quote of the Day 15 seconds Reflection Much much better lesson. Students were engaged the most 3rd period when I actually followed the plan (whereas the first two I let students continue working on the first worksheet.) Video was engaging, even if short and sweet. I did a rock solid think-aloud for number 1 and 2. I used the arrows jumping across. I first did PEMDAS with 3(5+2) and then showed the “long way” using distributive property. Got a lot of “OH!’s”
