WorkforceGPS – Overview https://www.workforcegps.org/ WorkforceGPS was introduced to the workforce system in April 2016 Transition from Workforce3One and DEI Ideas websites ETA’s On-Line Technical Assistance Platform Meet WorkforceGPS Webinar Archive, Help Page, and Introductory Videos are at: WorkforceGPS Help https://www.workforcegps.org/help Laura The goal of this webinar to provide a brief introduction to WorkforceGPS. We hope many of you are already familiar with it, but understand that there may be many that may not be. Since this is the central portal for the public workforce system and for all of the work of the DEI grantees the information shared will help support and augment your work. With the implementation of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act, DOL thought it was a good time to update / expand their web portal for the workforce system. It is sponsored by DOL’s Employment and Training Administration Just like its predecessor, Workforce3One, it serves as an interactive online communication and learning platform designed to communicate with and build the capacity of the public workforce system. The site includes technical assistance resources, online learning opportunities and space to connect and collaborate with peers The “Meet WorkforceGPS” Page, which we will visit in real time provides you with great information to learn more about the development of the site including an archived webinar and a very short video overview. For new users, I highly recommend vising this section. It is comprehensive and really helps lay out the format and structure for the site. The “Help” page provides video support to commonly asked questions: How to create a WorkforceGPS account How to register for a WorkforceGPS webinar How to share WorkforceGPS content How to navigate the WokforceGPS member directory Once you get the hang of it, it really is an intuitive site. These “help aids” really assist in that process.
WorkforceGPS Features Consistent navigation across the website Adjusts to multiple platforms (cell phone, pads, etc.) Communicates via different modes (Facebook, Twitter) Improved navigation: Search Save Share Laura It is the same look and feel on each page from top to bottom, which makes it easy to navigate within a page and get to other sections of the website . Just like much of the new technology, it adjusts to whatever device you are using and offers opportunity to communicate via different social media vehicles. Once you are a user and logged in, a navigation system in the upper right hand section of every page provides improved options to do things like share the information, web page you are viewing on social media, send it via e-mail, save to your profile page, increase text size, etc.
Creating a WorkforceGPS Account Joining WorkforceGPS Registration for Events Saves Your Events Maintains Your Profile Allows you to sign up for updates Select other communities in which you would like to become a member Laura When we do the demonstration, we will visit the site and see some of the different things that this web platform offers: including how to set up a workforceGPS account if you do not already have one. As a grantee, you should establish a Workforce GPS account to ensure you have full access to sign up and register learning opportunities, which includes all WorkforceGPS training / learning events. Setting up an account establishes a profile page for you to easily access webinars/other events that you register for including the archived information.
How WFGPS Content is Organized ETA Taxonomy – WorkforceGPS Organizational Structure Activities Programs/Funding Streams Target Populations Geographic Locations Industry Sectors Content Types Laura This organizational structure represents the main categories in which all resources are tagged and sorted on this site, no matter where you are located. They all use the same taxonomy. Each of the six main categories includes sub categories to break down the information sooner. It is important to remember that this structure was selected because it encompasses the information that make up the majority of the projects/initiatives that are located on this site. The navigation can be a bit challenging especially since our work does not necessarily fit nicely into these categories; however, our IT team has been working with us to develop some workarounds that we will share with you during the demonstration.

WorkforceGPS Demo, cont. WorkforceGPS Communities of Practice https://www.workforcegps.org/communities Career Pathways Disability and Employment Innovation and Opportunity Network WorkforceGPS Collection Site – DEI / Landing Pages (LP) https://dei.workforcegps.org/ DEI CoPs on Workforce EN and Business Engagement Integrated Resource Team Information and Resources Resources for Employment Network Operations in the Workforce System Disability Resource Coordinators: Tools and Resources Miranda WorkforceGPS includes Communities of Practice and Collection Sites. Communities offer you the chance to find resources on specific topics, programs, or initiatives--all while engaging with peers on those matters that most interest you. We will be highlighting three of the communities that are more directly related to our work under the DEI; however, there are a total of 14, so I hope you take a chance to familiarize yourself with them. Collections are curated resources on a specific topic, program, or initiative. ETA has gathered resources on specific topic areas to make it easier for you to find information that helps you with strategies, planning and implementation. The Disability Employment Initiative is considered a Collection site. We are going to show you the site and highlight some of our workarounds to consolidate disability-related information into central locations creating what we call Landing Pages. We will then get into the nitty gritty. The sections of WorkforceGPS that have been created for you (like the DEI Collection Site and Disability and Employment CoP) and just briefly show you how to navigate
