Advertisement Project In groups of 2-3 students Select a hypothetical product from the list (next slide) Create a print advertisement or commercial (~30 seconds) for your product You will have to utilize 5 or more of the following techniques: Ethos Pathos Logos Mirror effect Window effect CF: Color CF: Lighting CF: Focus CF: Framing

Advertisement Project: Hypothetical Products Incense A new, unisex deodorant that aims to appeal to men and women equally H3lp3r An app that assists and troubleshoots technological problems for the elderly or technologically challenged Profu A high protein tofu meat-substitute that is very nutritious (and tastes terrible) Aegis A type of smart phone that is water proof, shock resistant, and has an extended battery life (72+ hours) and a lifetime warranty. However, it costs 5x as much as other phones, and hasn’t had a great deal of success since its launch in January and wants to relaunch the campaign. The Orderly Post A new, conservative newspaper whose stories will only be published in print (no online presence) Oakland Farms A brand of chicken that received a great deal of bad press (and lowered sales) last year for its inhumane treatment of animals. The company hopes to launch a new ad campaign to regain public trust and show its new, animal friendly practices.

Group Activity: Designing Ads In your advertising groups, begin planning for your ad campaign What is the product/company for which you will be advertising? Is your goal to sell a specific product or build brand loyalty? Who is the target audience? Consider age, gender, socio-economic status, etc. What is the best media landscape or genre for this campaign and audience? Why? What is your core message or campaign concept? Why is this a good strategy to reach your audience? Consider a slogan, mirror/window effect, visual approach, etc.

Homework: VA Draft 3/4 600+ words and nearing completion PRINTED and brought to conference Should include introduction, descriptions, body paragraphs, conclusion, and works cited page You will receive a 0 for this assignment if you have no works cited page or if your printed draft is not brought to conference
