Presentation transcript:

Aim: How to solve calorimetry problems? Vocabulary Specific heat capacity- amount of heat energy required to raise the temperature of 1g of a material by 1K (or C degree.) Heat- form of energy transferred from object of higher temperature to an object of lower temperature. Temperature- average kinetic energy of motion of particles in an object. (Think speed of particles!)

Aim: How to solve calorimetry problems? Essential Questions: Distinguish between heat and temperature. Why does your hand feel cold when you hold ice? Why does sand heat up so much more quickly than water? True or false: A change of 1 C° is equal to 1K. Explain.
