REILA and Land Administration in Ethiopia 5 years - a cooperation between the Finnish and Ethiopian governments. Projects focusing on land registration in Ethiopia: REILA, SLMP, LIFT, LAND. Cadastral mapping based on imagery and the QGIS open source software.

The regions of Ethiopia 50 million parcels, the vast majority are not mapped.

The field work

Scanning - Georeferencing 9 selected points are used for the referencing. A reference grid in used for quality control.

Digitizing and quality control Autotracing functions speed up the digitizing. Topology checking finds overlaps, gaps and invalid geometries. The attribute table is checked by sorting columns and functions for detecting duplicate parcel IDs.
