LABOUR FORCE: comprises of: WORKING AGE POPULATION: The usually resident population of New Zealand aged 15 years and over LABOUR FORCE: comprises of: a) People aged 15 years or over who regularly work for one or more hours per week for financial gain or b) People working unpaid in family business. or c) People who are unemployed and seeking either full time or part –time work

LABOUR FORCE can be of two types: FULL-TIME LABOUR FORCE: It comprises persons working 30 hours or more per week OR Unemployed people seeking full-time work 2. PART-TIME LABOUR FORCE: It comprises of persons working 1 to 29 hours per week OR Unemployed persons seeking part-time work

FULL EMPLOYMENT: SOME DEFINITIONS “When there is no unemployment for those willing and able to work” “When existing number of job vacancies at least equals the number of people out of work” “When there is a ‘politically acceptable’ level of unavoidable unemployment” UNDER-EMPLOYED: Individuals who have greater skills and qualifications, but are working in jobs that require lesser or no skills eg: doctors driving taxis
