Chords and Bassline Step 1 – Bar 1 (Synth Pad/Piano/Guitar) Write out the three notes in your 1st chord For a chord of C Start on C Then choose every other note until you have three Sequence these as whole-notes into Cubase (1 bar long) See next slide for a larger image

Step 2 – Bar 2 Write out the three notes in the next chord For a chord of Am (m for minor) Start on A Then choose every other note until you have three Sequence these as whole-notes into Cubase (1bar) See next slide for a larger image

Am chord (use A3)

Step 3 – Bars 3 & 4 Repeat steps 1 & 2 for the last two chords in your progression Sequence these as whole-notes into Cubase

Step 4 – Bass line (Synth bass/bass guitar/cello) The bass note is the same as the letter name of the chord and lasts a whole-note (1 bar) For a C chord use C2 - For an Am chord use A2
