Glasroc H Tilebacker for bathrooms, shower areas New Product Launch The notes section in this presentation is to guide you through some of the points in the presentation. Glasroc H Tilebacker for bathrooms, shower areas 1

The technology Enhanced Glass Reinforced Gypsum Glasroc H Tilebacker Glass tissue embedded in gypsum core Yellow water resistant acrylic coated surface No paper = no mould growth Moisture and mould resistant core reinforced with glass fibre The technology Enhanced Glass Reinforced Gypsum

What’s used in bathrooms Glasroc H Tilebacker What’s used in bathrooms Traditional Common Advanced Knauf Aquapanel Hardiebacker Lafarge Aquaboard Traditional – MR boards suitable for use in intermittent moisture environments, ply typically used as a flooring application Common – specific tile backing boards. Knauf = open mesh cement board, Hardiebacker = cement fibre board, Lafarge = paper lined glass reinforced gypsum board Advanced – Wedi boards are high end/high price products and include specific applications such as wet room walls and floors Moisture Resistant boards Marine Ply “Foam boards” e.g. Wedi

What does Glasroc H TILEBACKER do?

The board’s benefits… a snap shot Glasroc H Tilebacker The board’s benefits… a snap shot High water resistance Lightweight Pre-primed acrylic coating repels water and is ready for tiling No paper face Really easy to use (cut, score and snap) – no need for power tools or pre-drilling Twice as quick to install at standard stud centres Installed in conjunction with existing British Gypsum partitioning and wall lining systems SpecSure® lifetime system warranty when installed as part of a British Gypsum approved system Recyclable board – using British Gypsum’s plasterboard recycling service

Glasroc H TILEBACKER vs. cement boards More water repellent Glasroc H TILEBACKER provides excellent surface water and total water resistance, From both the acrylic coating and moisture resistant core Some alternative brands soak up water Limitations - It’s not “water proof”, but provides protection from leaks Graph shows total water absorption – Picture demonstrates tests that we have done ‘Fish tank tests’ In this example the competitor board swelled as water absorbed into the board. The board then pulled away at joints and corners, allowing the water to leak (exactly what you wouldn’t want in bathroom)! 24 hours without leaks! 6 6

Glasroc H TILEBACKER vs. cement boards Lighter weight Cement boards are heavy, typically 13-15kg/m² Glasroc H TILEBACKER is ~10kg/m² (12.5mm) Also available in handy size of 1200mm x 900mm Limitations Sometimes light weight is seen as not strong - we have tested tile loading to 32kg/m² on 600mm studs in the GypWall CLASSIC partitioning system – our standard procedure is to reduce the stud centres on standard MR grade plasterboard Weight of competitors boards: approx 50kg a board Weight of TILEBACKER: 30kg a board 7 7

Glasroc H TILEBACKER vs. cement boards Score, snap and fixes easily Score and snaps like a plasterboard No power tools No special knives Supporting health and safety on site Easily one of the best selling points…easy installation is a real bonus against hard to cut and fix cement boards 8 8

Where does it sit in the range? Glasroc H Tilebacker Where does it sit in the range? There is some overlap with MR variant boards. To aid differentiation, for example in a bathroom, Glasroc H TILEBACKER is designed for use behind walls that will more regularly come into contact with water, such as behind shower cubicles and bath tubs. MR boards could be positioned in more intermittent areas such as on walls behind wash basins and sinks. It is customer preference whether to use MR or Glasroc H TILEBACKER in those areas – to suit the level of peace of mind required, but MR still must not be used in ‘high to extreme’ moisture environments
