Mrs. Hake’s Friday, Feb. 3rd edition CLASSROOM 2016-2017 news Sneak Peak Week in Review: at Next Week This week our activities were all about the zoo! We made a caged zoo animal in art and sorted zoo and nonzoo animals in science. We also sorted animals by their coverings such as feathers or fur. After reading the book, “Dear Zoo” we wrote our own letters to the zoo asking for an animal. Throughout the week we read fiction and non- fiction zoo books, which helped us to write facts about different zoo animals. For our project, we created zoo animals to hang in our hallway mural. We loved celebrating the 100th day of school by dressing up and rotating rooms to do activities with 100! Mon. Star Student: Vinncent Wed. Star Student: Jackson G. Tues. Scientist: Jace Thur. Valentine cards are great way to practice name writing! Use this experience to practice writing first or first and last names. HOWEVER, PLEASE DO NOT ADDRESS VALENTIN CARDS TO A SPECIFIC STUDENT, AS CARDS WILL BE PASSED OUT DOWN A LINE IN ORDER TO TAKE LESS TIME AWAY FROM OUR FUN PARTY! Again, please have children only sign their own name. Also, it is easiest to pass out cards that are unisex. Valentine bags will be made at school so there is no need to send one in. THANK YOU for helping make this experience FUN and EDUCATIONAL! There are 23 students in your child’s class. •Practice writing a letter to a relative •Highlight the numbers 0-20 in the newspaper or grocery ads •Sort money from a piggy bank and count how many of each coin you have •Review rainbow words and then write them with a marker •Try to use as many rainbow words as you can to make a sentence •Write your full name, address and phone number •Practice tying your shoes •Use cereal or a snack to practice making addition equations •See how many steps it takes from your kitchen to your bedroom •Hop as you count by 10s to 100 Victoria Theater We had such a great time at the theater. What an amazing experience! Rainbow WORDS Trace, cut, practice: out one red
