Cuban Missile Crisis

SS5H8 a Vietnam War The US slowly became involved in helping South Vietnam fight against the Communist North By the early 1960s the US had become more involved The US Government believed that if the Communist took over the South, then it would spread in the region

Vietnam War In the mid 1960s President Johnson had the American people believing they were winning the war In 1968 the North launched a surprise attack on the Americans called the Tet Offensive, trying to drive the US out of the South Though the attack failed, it showed the American people that we weren't winning the war, and made people question why we were fighting in Vietnam

Vietnam War Eventually the US withdrew from South Vietnam In 1975 the North and South were united under a communist government Americans, including soldiers and politicians, were divided on whether the US should have ever fought the war President Johnson’s popularity dropped because of his support of the war, and he eventually refused to run for another term
