Understanding the Interface The table describes the elements of Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 Interface The figure displays the interface of Microsoft PowerPoint 2010 Element Description Quick Access Toolbar Provides single-click buttons for accessing the most frequently used commands. Ribbon Consist of commands organized into groups in a set of tabs based on their functionality. Contextual Tabs Contain sets of commands that help users to create, design, and edit presentations. Slide Area Displays the current slide. Slides and Outline Pane Displays Slides and Outline tabs. The Slide tab displays a thumbnail-sized images of the slides included in a presentation. Inserting SmartArt A SmartArt graphic: Is a pre-formatted diagram that combines shapes, lines, and text boxes Is used to show the association between text items in an illustrative manner The table lists the different types of SmartArt diagrams provided by PowerPoint To insert a SmartArt diagram, perform the following steps: Open the required PowerPoint presentation Click SmartArt from the Illustration group of the Insert tab Select the required category and SmartArt shape Enter the required text Click OK SmartArt Type Description List Displays information in a non-sequential manner. Process Displays text items in a process or timeline with connectors. Cycle Displays text items as a recursive process. Hierarchy Displays relationships between items in a tree-based structure. Relationship Displays associations between items in different types of structures. Pyramid Displays items in a triangle showing relationship between them.
