Tips To Being Safe on Campus If you bring a bike to campus, use a U-Lock Don’t leave your valuables unattended Don’t leave items in plain view in your car and use some sort of theft deterrent device for your car. Walk with others at night or use the campus escort service Always lock your room, apartment, home – no matter how short of a time you may be away. Basically, don’t forget to use your Common Sense

Shelter in Place • Stay inside and stay away from windows • If available, monitor your phone, computer, radio or TV to check the Lobo Alerts/Lobo Advisory • Lock the door and wait for further instructions. • Keep the telephone lines free for emergency information. Do not call 911 or the UNM Police Department for information (505)277-2241. However, if you are trapped or need assistance, please call 911 or (505) 277-2241 for assistance! • Don’t leave your room until instructed by a Police Officer, authority figure or via the Lobo Alert/Lobo Advisory In some instances, it is safer to shelter in place and wait for further instructions. Shelter in place orders are usually given to protect people from moving into an area where they could encounter danger. If you are instructed to Shelter in Place, then:
