Ideas of chance + uncertainty Probability Scale A probability scale is an ordered line numbered from 0 (impossible) to 1 (certain).

Probability Scale A probability scale is an ordered line numbered from 0 (impossible) to 1 (certain). The probability of encountering a T-rex on the way home from school is 0. The probability that it will snow in winter could be 0.9!

Probability The probability of an event occurring is the chance it may happen, which can be given as a fraction, a decimal or a percentage.

Probability Number of successful events Probability = Total number of possible events Probability = Example 1 Find the probability of rolling a number greater than 4 when throwing a standard dice. Probability = = 2 6 1 3 (always simplify fractions, if possible)
