I am so excited to see the 5th grade AIM kids! This year’s study will be very different than last year. The students will not be creating a year long research project and product, but will be studying, “What causes conflict?” The Civil War will set the stage for our study on conflict, but we will apply it to today. We will also integrate some STEAM activities and challenges. Curriculum This year our integrated unit of study is The Civil War: A House Divided. This year-long study is designed around the concept of cause and effect. We will be investigating the United States during this historical time to learn how systems of geography, government, economics, and culture interact. Students will determine cause and effect relationships by making connections between events of this time period. The main goals of the unit are listed below.
