Essay Structure (basic) Introduction-- What are you trying to convince you reader to do or to believe? Body Paragraph #1 = reason 1 Body Paragraph #2 = reason 2 Body paragraph #3 = reason 3 Conclusion –looking forward--- positively or negatively

Introduction Context– what is the issue? Why is it important? Provide evidence that this is even an issue. Be direct and to the point—do not get bogged down in details. (history). State your thesis-- what are you trying to convince your reader to do or to believe?

Body Paragraphs—how will you convince your reader to do or believe you? TEST –don’t forget paragraph structure. Topic sentence must support and connect to your thesis! Evidence – what evidence is appropriate for your paragraph’s main idea?
