Acids and Bases (investigating a crime scene using pH) Use of microplates/microspoons (in your tray) Items/table: water bottles, purple liquid, 0.1M HCl & 0.1M NaOH bottles “colorless” liquid in your tray – use transfer pipet (fill 2x/well) Unknowns A & B (solids) in your tray; solid F and known NaCl on prep table Unknowns C, D (liquids), E and F on prep table. Do not remove from prep table, bring microplate to prep table You must wear your goggles (covering your eyes) for the entire lab. Plastic petri dishes are for used pH paper – do not throw in sink Use less than 1” strips of pH paper/test When asked to add to NaOH or HCl. Add 1 drop at a time and mix with glass rod between drops. Color change w/ purple liquid red or green
