Presentation transcript:

Castles Building a Castle: Location, Location, Location. Congratulations! You are a very powerful baron. However, you must complete the following tasks otherwise the king will banish you from the kingdom. Task One: The king needs you to build a castle to ensure that your part of the country is peaceful. Your teacher (greatly respected and learned advisor) will provide with a sheet that will help you to decide where to build your castle. Task Two: Write a letter to a fellow baron friend of yours. You need to tell him how and why you chose to build your castle where you did.

Castles Option One: My First Castle! Congratulations! You the only baron this week to be chosen to actually build a Motte and Bailey castle. You must complete all the tasks set otherwise the king will imprison you in the darkest, smelliest dungeon! Task One: Use the pages 1 and 2 of your ‘Castles’ booklet to create a excellent design for your castle on A4. Your design must be labelled and coloured so that the king can really appreciate how great it is. Task Two: Write a letter to a baron friend of yours telling him how you built the castle. Remember to include where you built it, why you placed it there, materials used and who built it for you. Task Three: It is now ten years later and your once great castle is getting older. You must replace it with a stone castle. Design a poster telling the villagers the problems of the old castle and what you’ll need to build a new one.

Castles Option Two: Life in your castle – What KEEPs Happening Congratulations! You are a famous architect (designer /drawer of buildings) from a nearby town. A rich baron has asked you to design a stone keep castle for him. Task One: Design and draw a picture of a keep castle. Remember to label everything so that the baron will be impressed. Task Two: The baron expects many friendly and not so friendly visitors to the castle. Write a guided tour to help friendly visitors to enjoy the castle, but to also warn off nasty ones. Task Three: The baron has decided to move to another part of the country where he has more land. Design an advert telling buyers how well built, well defended and luxurious the castle is.

Castles Option Three: Attacking the Castle. Congratulations! You are a brave military leader who is planning a rebellion against a local, evil baron. Task One: You need to show your soldiers how to use the weapons you have just purchased. Create a training book, with simple instructions, to show your soldiers how to use the new weapons. Task Two: Write a report to the baron that you are working for. Tell him how you are going to attack the castle by laying siege. Task Three: You have attacked the castle and won the battle. Design a newspaper informing the local villagers how you won the battle.
