Safety Tips Around Electrical Items Electricity surrounds us in our homes, offices or anywhere we go. Almost 30 years ago, an average household usually had only one television, a blender, and only two or three other appliances like iron, washing machine, and dishwasher. As the modern living style swept in, the number of electrical items in the house grew. Modern living means that we are using many more electrical items and gadgets than we did in the past. Now, an average household has two TVs, Wi-Fi, DVD player, gaming console, Satellite receiver, laptops, and mobile phones. Many of these electrical items in homes are self-installed without seeking consultation from any local electrician like San Francisco Electricians. Because of DIY installation and common blunders, the number of electrical accidents related to appliances has also increased. Here are some safety tips that can help you to stay safe around electrical items.

Electrical Chargers As the number of electrical appliances has increased, there are more number of electrical chargers. Because of their tiny appearance and frequent use, the safety around electrical chargers is often neglected that can cause serious accidents. When you are using electrical charger, Make sure that the average distance between the edge of the pin and edge of the charger is minimum 9.5mm. Otherwise, you can get electrical shock while plugging in. Never leave your charger plugged in while it is not connected to the electrical appliances, specially if a toddler is around. Always make sure that the charger’s voltage and ampere specification matches the specification of electrical appliance. Lookout for fake or low-quality products that do not have built-in safety mechanism. These products are usually too hot to touch. Ask your Electricians San Francisco to install outlets wherever you use chargers instead of running extensions or long wires. Always follow manufacturer’s guidelines and instructions while using the charger.

Kitchen Appliances Kitchen appliances no more mean a blender or an electric stove. There is a range of kitchen appliances in modern kitchens from food factory, juicers, cutters, to electrical oven, microwave, toaster, grill etc. A major part of the cooking has now shifted to electrical items. While using kitchen appliances, Run frequent checks to make sure that there are no cracks or burns in the wire and there is no damage to the appliance. Do not use appliances that are not water-safe near water and do not wash them. Always wash electrical items according to manufacturer’s guidelines and avoid plugging-in wet machines. Always use microwave safe utensils and dishes while putting food in the microwave as other chinaware can break or can cause arcing. Any appliances that makes arcing sound while plugging in or during use must be properly checked. Never leave an electrical household item working near kids unattended even when it is out of their approach. Never touch the back of fridge or refrigerator with wet hands as it may cause electric shock.

Health and Beauty Appliances   The electrical appliances have swept in every walk of life and health and beauty is no exception. There are various health and beauty appliances like electrical massager, hair straightening iron, hair dryer, and hair curlers.
