Automated Task Lists Task automation is a way for non-programmers to created defined task lists that can be executed automatically If you need to perform the same edits over and over … automate! Anything you can do in the MarcEditor can be automated as a task

Everyday Cataloging Most of our material doesn’t come with packaged vendor records and still needs to be cataloged individually We were making the same edits over and over for our DVDs, so we looked at what we were doing and created a task list

In 2015, the Library changed its domain name Special Projects In 2015, the Library changed its domain name imcpl.org became indypl.org This affected some of our eResources OverDrive eBooks OverDrive eAudiobooks NetLibrary (EBSCO) eBooks
We Extracted the Records from the Catalog What we HAD to do What we ALSO did Replace imcpl.org with indypl.org in 856 field Reimport and overlay existing bibs with edited records Record type corrections in LDR Changed call# to new standard Deleted 33X fields Ran the RDA Helper to add the correct 33X fields And yes, we also changed the domain name

McFadden Lecturers at IndyPL The Marian McFadden Memorial Lecture is an annual author lecture series named after Marian McFadden, Director of Public Libraries from 1945-1956. We added the following subject heading to all bib records for each lecturer 650 \7$aMcFadden lecturer [date].$2local
Shared System Shared System members use the IndyPL catalog for their catalog and item records There are 49 member libraries, including 32 elementary schools, 3 middle schools, 12 high schools, and 2 museums, all sharing with 23 IndyPL locations Students and teachers borrow from their school libraries, IndyPL, and other schools. IndyPL patrons can use museum books on site, and borrow from school libraries
Shared System Catalog Migration If a new member has an existing automated catalog, their MARC records are migrated into the IndyPL catalog Records can come from different vendors Some are from Z39.50 sources They run the gamut from very good records to … not so good Regardless of what they look like we try to import the cleanest and best records possible
Typical Cleanup Before Catalog Migration Copy 440 to an 830 Replaced 440 with 490 Fix some pre-ISBD punctuation in older records Add RDA elements if they’re missing Replace incorrect indicators
