That which is firm, faithful, true. So, What Is Truth? Old Testament: אֱמֶת n.f. firmness, faithfulness, truth New Testament: ἀλήθεια: it means the content of that which is true and thus - in accordance with what actually is - 'truth.' “a” means “not, without, or opposite to” Examples: asocial, atonality, asonia ἀλήθεια – the ἀ negates λανθάνω: which means “to cause oneself to not be known, with the implication of concealment and secrecy - 'to escape notice, to remain hid- den.' ” It is used in Mk 7:24 – Jesus could not be hid; So “truth” is: That which is firm, faithful, true. It is “real”, it is “evident”, it “exists” and it can be found.

John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. We see that “word” and “truth” are the same thing. Jesus is both. KJV John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. So the Word (God) became flesh (Jesus Christ) and dwelt among men here on earth.

Jesus Christ claimed that anyone who has seen Him, has seen the Father, John 14:9.

Inferences Since Jesus Christ is God, the Word, the Truth, the Way and the Life, He has the capacity to set man free from sin and death. 2. Since He is the revelation of God the father, and since one can come to God only through Him, it is true that separate from Jesus: A. One cannot know God. B. One cannot come to God. C. One cannot be set free from sin. D. One cannot have the life that Jesus Christ came to give.

These are wonderful things to know! 1. They should give us hope. 2. An awareness that we have something greater to look forward to than anything this life has to offer. 3. And man has a very good and great cause to inspire him to live a good life.
