Claiming Your Google Listing
Step 1: Sign into your Google account Go to google.com, if you are not already signed in to your account, you will see a blue box labeled “Sign in”. Click this button to log in.

Step 1: Sign into your Google account If you click the “Sign in” button, you will be directed to this screen here. Enter your email or phone number associated with your Google account in the field. If you have never set up a Google account, you can click “Create account” at the bottom and follow the steps accordingly.
2. Google My Business Once you have logged in to your account. Go to the website business.google.com . You should see this screen below. Click on the “plus” icon in the bottom left corner.

2. Google My Business You will be directed to this screen titled “Add your business”. Simply fill in all the information and click the blue button labeled “Continue” at the bottom.
3. Claim the verified listing If the business already has a verified listing, that means a Google account already owns it. It could be yours or one you or a staff member created in the past. If this is the case you will see this pop up appear (see below). If you recognize the email in the “hint” you can follow the Account Recovery guide. If not, you can request ownership of the listing by clicking the blue button labeled “Request ownership.”
3. Claim the verified listing You will then be directed to a page to request rights to the page. Simply fill in the appropriate information and click “Submit.” You should then receive a message from Google advising they will reach out to the owner of the page with your request. After 7 days with no response, on the 8th day, you can claim the listing.
3. Claim the verified listing After the 7 days have passed, if the owner of the page has not responded, you can return to the email you received from Google and click the blue button labeled “View Request”
3. Claim the verified listing You will now see this message below, indicating the owner of the page has taken no action. You can now verify with Google your ownership of the business by clicking the blue button labeled “Verify.”
3. Claim the verified listing You will need to agree to Google’s Terms and Conditions and select the radio button agreeing that you are authorized to access this listing. After that you will be taken to the screen below that should give you options for re-verifying the page under your ownership. Often you can do this by having Google call your business phone number, but at times it may require a postcard be mailed to the business address. Choose the option that is most convenient for you.
Once you have re-verified the page with any of the available methods, you have completed the process and now have ownership of your verified Google listing.
