Location Services (1) Position Determination Service for cdma2000® Spread Spectrum Systems (TIA-801) Standards work for TIA-801 has commenced in the air interface for Revision B. Currently: TIA-801 supports Global Positioning Systems (GPS) and 1x TIA-801-A supports Standalone High Rate Packet Data (HRPD) New development and supporting work items for TIA-801-B (Proposed Publication 4Q2008) Galileo: allow for A-GALILEO positioning Ultra Mobile Broadband: include positioning for UMB Consideration for other Global Navigation Satellite Systems Highly Detectable Pilots (HDP) Message Extensions
Location Services (2) Feature list for TIA-801-B Global Navigation Satellite Systems Beidou GLONASS QZSS Galileo Include additional pilots Highly Detectable Pilots (HDP) Support for UMB pilot measurements Enhance message functionality to support Standalone HRPD
Strategic Direction Upon publication, TIA-801-B would allow support for the following technologies: 1x RTT HRPD and 1x Standalone HRPD UMB Hence, the industry would be in a position to support any one or all of these technologies for location based services
Strategic Direction Relative to Core Network, TIA/3GPP2 is not defining IP location Services IP-based Location Services has been moved to OMA OMA Location Working Group specifies location enablers that can be used by 3GPP2
