MONSOON PRECAUTIONS Electrical Supply: 2. Earthing: During the North Easterly Monsoon slashing across Kerala in the coming months, we should take maximum precautions to protect our valuable assets viz. Telephone lines, Telephone instruments, cables, OF network, Power Plant, Exchange Equipments etc from lightning. Electrical Supply: Proper instructions should be given to the exchange in-charge to switch off KSEB power supply during periods of lightning by changing over to E/A supply position, which will also ensure KSEB neutral isolation. 2. Earthing: Earthlings of the exchange and MDF should be verified and the value should be ensured within the prescribed limits, with assistance from the Installation wing, if required. 3. Protective Devices: Protective devices like GD tube, IPM etc. should be properly inserted at the MDF.

MONSOON PRECAUTIONS 4. Pillar & DP: 5. Information to Customers: Proper earthing of all pillars and earth continuity among all main cables should be ensured. All open cable joints pending for closure should be closed immediately. DPs if any opened should be closed and glass paper can be used as cover to avoid entry of moisture content inside the DP box. 5. Information to Customers: All customers of Landline / WLL should be properly informed of the methods to safeguard Telephone instruments, BB modems etc. during lightning / rain especially at areas identified as lightning prone. 6. Proper Monitoring: All precautionary measures should be taken to ensure quality service to our customers during this lightning season. DGMs / DEs should properly monitor the above guidelines and ensure attending of faults within the shortest possible time
