Territorial Issues

Issues Related to Urban Territories How space should be used can be a territorial Issues Sometimes leaders and residents of a city disagree how our space should be used There are three major issues related to the urban Territory: 1) Transportation 2)Housing 3) Waste Management

Transportation In a metropolis like Montreal we have traffic issues due to several issues: In Montreal the amount of cars is increasing faster than the population Due to our high population and most people working at the same time it causes major issues in traffic flow Small accidents can cause severe delays, rush hour can double and triple travel time Pollution from cars can also lead to smog

Solutions to transportation issues To reduce pollution and traffic there are several things we can do 1) Public transportation 2) Bicycles and Bicycle paths 3) Car pooling

Housing Issues Finding a place to live can be difficult as there are less houses in Montreal than we need to house everybody Houses that are available may be too expensive Households should not spend more than 1/3 of their budget on housing 2/3 of tenants in Montreal are paying more than 50 percent of their budget There is a movement in Quebec to get the government to build more affordable housing

Waste Management In Quebec we generate 20 tonnes of waste every minute Many Montrealers are turning to more environmentally friendly methods for garbage collection One way is to follow the 3 r’s: reduce, reuse and recycle People are also staring to compost on a larger scale
