Competition update Poetry week Create a poem based on the theme of truth and dare some examples are You will be judged on Creativity, imagination, technical writing ability, imagination, and interpretation of the theme All entries to Miss Wybourn by Friday 13th October

Exploration and Discovery Competition update Science year 7,8,9 As part of the British Science Association’s 2018 Poster contest Create a poster an A3 or A4 sized poster THEME: Exploration and Discovery Research how exploration and curiosity by Inventors and Scientists has lead to new discoveries in Science. Ask, where is Science research going in the future? Competition Runs Tuesday, 3rd October to Thursday, 19th October Complete your poster and hand it into your Science Teacher You may work in groups of up to 3 or individually Top 5 entries will be selected to represent Thomas Aveling in the 2018 British Science Association's Poster Contest. Where there are PRIZES! Top 5 Will also be awarded house points!

Competition update Design Technology deadline 12th October Year 7 students will create an architectural model based on the designs they have produced in lesson. The students will be given a base template for the model. The model will be set for homework and students will have 2 weeks to be completed.   Winners will be announced by October half term

Competition update Geography Year 7 postcard Scholarship 9-10 Pole-pole Year 8 Start date 18th September 2017 Closing  date 25th September 2017 Who/ where the entries need to go Hand in your entry to your class teacher in your usual teaching room. Details/rules of the competition Design a geographical image to be used on the front of our celebratory postcards. Five winning entries will be transformed into the postcards we send home this year. Students will be shown examples to gain inspiration. Geography Start date 12th October 2017 Closing  date 6th November 2017 Who/ where the entries need to go Hand in your entry to Mrs Reed in A13. Details/rules of the competition Entry is by invitation only. Students will be selected by their Geography teacher (MABLE students) and they will be given a piece of independent fieldwork to investigate. They must carry out primary & secondary data collection methods and answer a hypothesis. How they present their work is their decision. Start date 25th September 2017 Closing  date 9th October 2017 Who/ where the entries need to go Hand in your entry to your class teacher in your usual teaching room. Details/rules of the competition Design and make a model of a sustainable Dubai hotel. Include features to ensure your hotel looks after the environment, improves the economy and helps local people. In addition to your model, you must include an accompanying written explanation of the sustainable features in your hotel.
