WRC agenda item 1.13 - Perspectives from APT - Hiroyuki Atarashi NTT DOCOMO, INC.

About Asia-Pacific Telecommunity (APT) APT serves as the focal organization for ICT in the region. 38 Members, 4 Associate Members and 134 Affiliate Members.

APT Conference Preparatory Group for WRC-19 (APG-19) The main objective is to organize coordinated regional activities for WRC and RA: To ensure that the interests of APT Members on Radiocommunication issues are properly represented. The APG’s activities include but are not limited to: develop APT Common Proposals for WRCs and on matters related to RAs; develop APT contributions to CPMs; assist APT Member countries, especially developing countries, in their preparations for WRCs, RAs and CPMs. The APG structure for the WRC-19 (APG-19) was established at its 1st meeting held from 26 to 28 July 2016.

Outcome of the 1st meeting of APG-19 On WRC-19 agenda item 1.13: Dr. Hiroyuki Atarashi was appointed as the chairman of DG 2-1 (for AI 1.13) and as the APT coordinator to ITU-R Task Group 5/1. No concrete discussion on this agenda item was conducted. On provisional objectives of the 2nd meeting (APG19-2) … to review issues associated with each WRC-19 agenda item to consider the results of studies of ITU-R Study Groups and any information provided by AWG in relation to WRC-19 agenda items, and take necessary actions as appropriate to develop, to the extent practicable, preliminary views for each WRC-19 agenda item based on contributions from APT Members

APT Wireless Group (AWG) AWG is an APT work program: Conducting work covering various aspects of emerging wireless systems to meet the upcoming digital convergence in the Asia-Pacific region. For some of the WRC-19 agenda items, AWG is carrying out technical and operational studies to support preparation for WRCs by APG. On WRC-19 agenda item 1.13, AWG issued a questionnaire on “Usage and future plan of frequency bands in relation to studies on WRC-19 agenda item 1.13 in Asia-Pacific Region” Currently, IRN, J, KOR, SNG, THL, and VTN provided their responses. Deadline of the responses is the next meeting of AWG (Mar/Apr 2017).
