Emergent Layer The emergent layer is the first layer. Lots of animals live there like harpy eagles, monkeys, toucans, and macaws.

Canopy layer There’s some light in this layer. Animals live there like butterflies, monkeys, Sloth, frogs, iguanas, boa constrictors, and jaguars.

Understory Layer The understory is the 3rd layer of the rainforest. It only gets a little of light. Animals live there like butterflies, red eyed tree frogs, snakes, lizards, jaguars, and monkeys.

Forest Floor The Forest Floor has little sunlight. There are animals like tapirs, grasshoppers, spiders, jaguars, anacondas, tarantulas, armadillos, and anteaters.

Deforestation Deforestation is when people destroy the rainforest by burning or cutting the trees. The four reasons are for cattle grazing, cities and towns are being built, trees are cut for logging, and the ground is dug up for mining.
