Social Media and Tourism In the tourism industry social media is used in many ways. In my interview with Mary Schmitz, Executive Director of Welcome to Memphis and Malvin Gipson, Executive Director for the Memphis Sports Council, will explore how they use social media to drive business. In a GoogleHangout interview I will have a conversation with Mary an Malvin about how social media is used in their business.

Interview Highlights The travel industry – whether focusing on the leisure or sport business is learning more about social media and how to use effectively. The best campaigns are well thought out. There is a definite method to using effectively. Both Mary and Malvin are utilizing social media to reach their business audience which in turn reaches out to the public audience Welcome Memphis – The audience consist of the members of the CVB and focus is the training of the front line employees – to create the best customer service professionals Sports Council – Promoting the sports industry and attracting sporting events to bring in more visitors to Memphis, also promoting Memphis to tournament participants.
