What we will be learning in Reception In Reception, we learn through topics. These will follow children’s interests and therefore could change. Our topics for Summer currently are: Mini-beasts and Growing, Farming and Summer/Holidays Reading We will be learning: To link letters of the alphabet with the sound To read simple sentences To repeat the whole sentence again after reading it to support understanding To show an understanding of what we have read To read some common irregular words and know some common words by sight Summer 2 What we will be learning in Reception Maths In maths we will be learning: To measure length/height and to order these measurements Capacity and ordering by capacity Recording results Addition and Subtraction Telling the time to o’clock and half past In our number work we will be learning: Number bonds to 10 and 20 Counting to 100 Counting in 10, 5 and 2 times table Writing numerals Ordering numbers Writing We will be learning: To use our phonic knowledge to write words Writing using irregular common words Writing sentences with a strong focus on correct spelling Form our letters in the correct way, sitting properly on a line Using our imagination in our writing Writing using descriptive language
