Miller School 1J Month of: October If you have any questions or concerns regarding homework, or anything else, please contact me. ½ Day Wednesday, Oct. 4th – SIP Day, NO SCHOOL: Monday, Oct. 9th - Columbus Day, Early dismissal, Thursday, Oct. 26th –P/T Conferences, & NO SCHOOL: Friday, Oct. 27th – P/T Conferences Scholastic book orders are due on Friday, October 13th. -Relate counting to addition and subtraction by counting on or counting back -Add and subtract within 10 fluently -Count to 120, starting at any number less than 120. -Read numbers to 120 in random order. -Write numbers to 120. -Order three objects by length and compare the lengths of two objects indirectly by using a third object. -Tell and write times in hours using analog and digital clocks. -Defining and non-defining attributes of shapes. We will continue reading a variety of stories chosen by the teacher for use in our Making Meaning and Daily 5 programs. We will begin Guided Reading in a week or two. We continue to build student stamina for independent reading and writing intervals. We continue to have Star Student of the Week. You will receive a letter when it is your child’s turn. We have also been covering maps, commun-ities and are now researching Spain for Hispanic Heritage Month. In Science, we have been working on a shadows and the solar system unit. Wednesdays–Dismiss at 1:45pm Wear/bring gym shoes everyday for P.E. Library Book Check Out – is on Thursdays We continue to work on learning correct letter/line formation along with the emphasis on using the lines correctly. Students have the opportunity to write in their journals daily, and they have been taking turns sitting in the “Author’s Chair” to share their work.
