TASK The flooring in your bedroom is lime green and you HATE it. You need to convince your parents to replace it. Determine the cost of new carpeting, tile,or hardwood and decide which one would be best in your room. Once you have all your information, write a letter to your parents with your choice. Use the facts to persuade them to give you a new floor.

PROCESS Make a sketch of your bedroom on graph paper and/or Geometer’s Sketch Pad. Measure your bedroom, fill in the dimensions and determine the area of the room. Convert your measurements to square feet and square yards. Find out how much a square foot or square yard of the flooring costs by visiting at least three web sites.(examples are below). Flooring Creations Wholesale Carpet at American Carpet Wholesalers Carpet Corporation of America Owen Carpet Complete the table with the information required. You must include three different types of floors and their prices. Write the letter to your parents to persuade them to purchase your choice. Be sure to include a comparison of the different floors.
