WHY???? It’s More Fun Outdoors! Why Cub Scout Outdoor Activities? Positive outdoor experiences Learn about the environment around them FUN! WHY????

Criteria Cub Scouting program-specific criteria: The activity is parent/youth or family-oriented. The activity is conducted with adult supervision The Cub Scouts are asked to do their best. The activity is discovery-based. Advancement occurs as a natural part of a well-planned program, but is not the focus of the camp program Criteria

REMEMBER ALWAYS HAVE TWO-DEEP LEADERSHIP Two registered adult leaders, or one registered adult leader and a parent of participate one of whom must be 21 yeas of age or older FOR ALL TRIPS & OUTINGS REMEMBER

OUTDOOR ACTIVITY TIPS Obtain written permission Tour permit needed? Need to be filled out 4 weeks prior Plan out the entire activity Obtain enough adult leaders Know the site you are visiting Use the Buddy system Carry a First Aid Kit Safe transportation Leave the site as you found it or in better shape. Camping – Full agenda need to be completed, must have one Baloo trained adult. Have a back up plan & location! OUTDOOR ACTIVITY TIPS

P.A.L.A WHAT IS “PALA”? Presidential Active Lifestyle Award PALA is encourages scouts and families to motivate participants to be physically active on a regular basis. P.A.L.A

HOW DOES THE SCOUTStrong PALA CHALLENGE WORK? Participants are required: daily activity goal of 30 minutes a day for adults and 60 minutes a day for kids under 18 for at least five days a week, Runs for a total of six weeks BUT have eight weeks to complete the program. Pick an activity(ies) to reach their goal then log it Over 100 indoor and outdoor activities count toward the daily requirement, including walking, running, aerobics, gardening, and canoeing…. HOW DOES THE SCOUTStrong PALA CHALLENGE WORK?
