Easy to let ourselves be deceived From without: 1 Jo 3:7 Little children, let no one deceive you… A. It is easy to let ourselves be deceived. 1. From without. (cf. 1 Jno. 3:7). a. By what we are told (1) Family received false notice of death of son during war. (2) False doctrine. b. By our senses. (1) Grandpa King's dog. (2) Jacob's “hairy arms”. (3) Joseph's bloody coat. Easy to let ourselves be deceived

Easy to let ourselves be deceived From within: 1 Jo 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 2. From within. (cf. 1 John 1:8) a. Our state of mind. (1) A desire for pleasure rather than truth. (2 Thess. 2:10-12). (2) A desire to have a thing so: “Blind love”; “Miracle cures” b. Our ignorance. (cf. 1 Tim. 1:13). (1) Kicking “cat” in dark. (2) Medicine without reading label. B. It must be especially easy to be deceived in three areas where specific warning given. Discussion: Easy to let ourselves be deceived

About Who is Going to Heaven 1Co 6:9-10 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. I. Be Not Deceived About Who Is Going to Heaven. (1 Cor. 6:9,10) A. Many think all people are going regardless... About Who is Going to Heaven

About Who is Going to Heaven Unbelievers? Jn 8:24 Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." B. About Who is Going to Heaven Without obeying the Gospel? Act 10:1-2 There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment, a devout man and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always. 2. Without obeying gospel? (cf. Acts 10:1-4). Cornelius was devout, feared God, gave alms, and prayed to God always…sounds pretty good doesn’t it? But… About Who is Going to Heaven

And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, " What is it, lord?“ So he said to him, " Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God. Acts 10:3-4 An angel was sent to him…why? About Who is Going to Heaven

About Who is Going to Heaven Without obeying the Gospel? Act 10:5-6 Now send men to Joppa, and send for Simon whose surname is Peter. He is lodging with Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea. He will tell you what you must do." Acts 10:5-6 To tell him how he would learn what HE MUST DO! Subsequent history shows that Cornelius and his household obeyed the gospel by being baptized. Can’t get to heave without it. About Who is Going to Heaven

About Who is Going to Heaven Just because they “believe?” Mat 7:21-23 Not everyone who says to Me, ' Lord, Lord, ' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ' Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name? ' And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness! ' C. Many think all good religious people are going regardless... 1. Some believe in God and Jesus will not go. (Matt. 7:21-23; About Who is Going to Heaven
