The president, or Chief Executive, is the head of the government. Americans vote every four years for their leader of their democratic society. After elected to serve his/her country, the president lives and works in the White House. The president is in charge of the armed forces. The president works with leaders of other countries. An oligarchy is a form of government that is run by an elite group of people.
A monarchy is a political system in which a royal family (king/queen) is in charge.
A constitutional monarchy is a blend of a monarchy and a democracy A constitutional monarchy is a blend of a monarchy and a democracy. The king/queen is a figurehead--without political power.
A dictatorship, or autocrat, rules over the political, social, and economic lives of the country’s people. The dictator is not restricted by laws or a constitution.
