Electoral College
Roots Founders did not trust the average person so they had “electors” chose for their state and everyone living in it What does this mean? Popular vote DOES NOT elect the President
Electoral Votes Each state receives a certain number of votes # of Senators = # of Representatives = # of electoral college votes Ex. MN 2 Senators + 8 Representatives = 10 Electoral College Votes
Total Electoral College Votes 100 Senators + 435 Representatives + 3 votes for Washington D.C. In order to win, a candidate must win at least 270 votes
Who Gets To Be An Elector? Chosen by political parties in each state/district
