FLOORWORX SD STATIC CONTROL TILES & SHEETING

INTRODUCTION Static Dissipative flooring is essential for protecting sensitive equipment from static charge It is ideal for use in hi-tech applications such as computer rooms, electronics and telecommunication areas, operating theatres, radiology and the like FloorworX SD is a static dissipative flexible homogeneous floor covering available in both tile and sheeting form that has been calendared and compacted with permanent anti-static properties so as to act as a continuous dissipater of static electrical charges. FloorworX SD is manufactured in accordance with EN 649 and complies with EN 1081 in terms of electrical resistance The tiles are suitable for use in raised access areas

BENEFITS FLOORWORX SD_ High durability Conductive properties assured over lifetime of the product Totally waterproof when hot welded Good resistance to chemicals Repairable Fully hygienic

INSTALLATION FloorworX SD must be installed in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations Sub-floors must be smooth, hard, clean and dry before laying commences Uneven, solid or suspended timber sub-floors may need additional preparation to meet the required standard In case of direct to earth concrete, a damp proof membrane must be incorporated into the sub-floor Aluminium Tape must be used during the installation of FloorworX SD sheeting or tiles to form a grid beneath the product in order to conduct electric and static charges to earth FloorworX SB must be allowed to relax for 24 hours at a uniform room temperature of between 18°C and 27°C prior to installation All sub-floors must be tested for moisture content prior to installation The recommended adhesive is FloorworX No. 27 acrylic conductive adhesive

SUGGESTED SPECIFICATION FLOORWORX SD TILES_ Supply and fix 2.0mm thick x 608mm x 608mm FloorworX SD directional static dissipative vinyl tiles, manufactured in accordance with EN 649 and laid over an earthed grid of aluminium tape in FloorworX No.27 acrylic conductive adhesive which has been spread using a trowel fitted with an A2 notched blade at a rate of between 5.5m2 and 6.5m2 per litre on a previously prepared Class 1 sub-floor in accordance with SANS 10070, using FloorworX Self Leveller when required, including all cutting and waste After completing the installation the floor must be electrically tested for resistivity in accordance with the requirements of SANS 6160.

SUGGESTED SPECIFICATION FLOORWORX SD SHEETING_ Supply and fix 2.0mm thick x 2.0m wide FloorworX SD directional static dissipative vinyl sheeting, manufactured in accordance with EN 649 and laid over an earthed grid of aluminium tape in FloorworX No.27 acrylic conductive adhesive which has been spread using a trowel fitted with an A2 notched blade at a rate of between 5.5m2 and 6.5m2 per litre on a previously prepared Class 1 sub-floor in accordance with SANS 10070, using FloorworX Self Leveller when required, including all cutting and waste The sheeting must be rolled in both directions with an articulated 68kg three-sectional roller immediately after it has been laid into the adhesive. Joins must be butted, grooved and heat welded using the manufacturer’s welding rod, ensuring that the welding rod bonds to more than 70% of the sheet thickness After completing the installation the floor must be electrically tested for resistivity in accordance with the requirements of SANS 6160

WARRANTY FloorworX offers a 5 year limited warranty, subject to our terms and conditions, against defective material provided that it is installed and maintained in accordance with our recommendations

MAINTENANCE PREVENTIVE_ Approximately 80% of the dirt and soiling that has to be cleaned off a floor has been trafficked in from outside the building More than 90% of that soiling can be avoided by the use of an effective entrance matting system. When less dirt is trafficked through the entrance there will be a reduction in maintenance requirements Regular cleaning is more cost-effective and hygienic than occasional heavy-duty cleaning Wipe up any grease and oil spills immediately and treat stains as soon as they are observed Black rubber wheels and rubber furniture feet can discolour the floorcovering. Hard plastic is preferred. Always follow the manufacturer’s dosage instructions regarding the use of cleaning chemicals.

POST-INSTALLATION SITE CLEAN_ MAINTENANCE POST-INSTALLATION SITE CLEAN_ Floor maintenance begins immediately after the completion of installation The initial step is to remove any loose dirt or debris using a dry mop, broom or vacuum Sand, construction debris and sharp-edged objects may result in irreparable damage being inflicted to the new floor Remove any visible adhesive residue using a damp cloth. Once the adhesive has cured it will be difficult to remove If other trades are working in the building after the installation of the flooring, the floor must be protected from subsequent damage by the use of thick paper, cardboard or hard board No wet maintenance must take place until 72 hours (3 days) have elapsed from the time of installation (this is to ensure that the adhesive has sufficient time to cure properly and develop full bond strength)

MAINTENANCE INITIAL CLEAN_ Dust mop or vacuum the floor to remove loose soil and dust Scrub the floor using a solution of FloorworX Maintain diluted 1:10 with clean water, with a rotary machine fitted with a blue pad Remove the residue immediately after scrubbing using a wet/dry vacuum Rinse with clean water using a flat mop and allow the floor to dry Dry buff the floor using a rotary machine fitted with a white pad

MAINTENANCE REGULAR CLEANING_ Dust mop with flat mop or vacuum on a daily basis to remove dust and loose dirt Treat spills, spots and stains immediately Spot clean by hand with a red or white pad and a diluted solution of FloorworX Maintain, working from the outside of the mark to its centre Dry buff periodically The frequency of dry buffing is dependent on the amount of foot traffic and the effectiveness of the daily cleaning regime Do not apply any sealers or polishes to the floor as they will have a negative effect on the static dissipative properties of the floor

OCCASIONAL MAINTENANCE_ Scrub the floor using a solution of FloorworX Maintain diluted 1:10 with clean water, with a rotary machine fitted with a blue pad Remove the residue immediately after scrubbing using a wet/dry vacuum Rinse with clean water using a flat mop and allow the floor to dry Dry buff the floor using a rotary machine fitted with a white pad
