HYPOTHESIS What if gathering some common everyday materials, it is possible to clarify and display the result of three physical changes and three chemical changes.

INFO Water as a liquid is formed then water vapor is cooled or ice isis heated. Ice is formed when water is cooled to the freezing point. Water as steam or water vapor. It is formed when water is heated to the boiling pointorit evaporates.

MORE INFO A physical change is a change in which no new substance is formed. A chemical change results in the formation of one or more new substances. If you change something physical you still have what you started with.

More info (cont.) If you tear a piece of paper you still have paper. If you change something chemically you’ll end up with something highly unalike than what you began with.

Information on chemical changes. The explosion of fireworks is a chemical change. Chemical changes can also be refered to as a chemical reaction. Chemical reactions include combining unalike substances.

CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL

MORE DID YOU KNOW… Water can be changed by temperature to take the form of a gas,a liquid,or a solid(ice) this is a physical change. In most cases heat causes a physical change not a chemical change.

MORE INFORMATION A physical change in a substance doesn’t change what the substance is. In a chemical change where there is a chemical reaction, a new substance is formed and energy is either given off or absorbed. A physical change in a substance doesn't change what the substance is.

PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL CHANGES BY SAKEEMAH HARRISON

Extra Information Chemical changes take place on the molecular level.A chemical change produces a new substance.

DID YOU KNOW… It is often difficult or impossible to “undo” the result of a chemical reaction. A physical change can usually be reversed. When a chemical change takes place, the substance often takes on new properties.

Scientific Question Can you understand the difference between a physical and chemical change?

CHEMICAL CHANGE Baking cookies is a chemical change. A slice of bread and a slice of toasted bread. Unbaked cookie dough and a baked cookie. Fresh milk and sour milk.

PHYSICAL CHANGE A glass of water and ice cubes. A glass of plain water and a mixture of water and black pepper. Cut up fruits and a fruit salad.

Cause A glass of water and ice cubes.
